Xbox’s Japanese Invasion

For those of you that have home business plans that still operate largely on the sales principle, you might want to consider what Microsoft has recently done. The computer software giant has the Xbox 360 gaming platform and while that platform has done amazingly well in the United States, it hasn’t been so hot over in Japan. In fact, it’s quite safe to say that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has been clobbered in the Japanese market
by home-grown Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3 machines.
However, Microsoft is a knowledgeable business company run by people who know how to use the clout of the big business they control to influence markets and for that reason they are going to be slashing prices on the Xbox 360 in Japan by a very large amount. They’ll be lowering the price by 30% and that is going to make it the cheapest console to purchase in the country.
While this might have the effect of increasing market share, many people are pessimistic about the success since the software end of things has been rather suspect comparatively as of late. Only time will tell if Microsoft is successful however and it will certainly be an interesting business story to follow.
