Despite the recession Norfolk-based insurance broker Adrian Flux Insurance Services has just launched a major recruitment drive offering 100 new jobs at its King’s Lynn headquarters. The company will increase its workforce by about 20%, and there are openings not only for experienced personnel but also talented youngsters.

For the people jobless right now, NEW is the focus to be. NEW is a leading provider of extended service plans and buyer protection programs for consumer products. They have announced today at a press conference with Gov. Edward G. Rendell plans that they will be opening a new customer service call center in Altoona by May of this year that will bring up to 481 new jobs to the area.

With the addition of the new call center jobs, NEW will become one of the area’s top fifteen largest employers. Last July, NEW established a Work-at-Home Training Center that currently employs 60 people from the Altoona region.

WASHINGTON (Xinhua) — U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis on Monday called on both parties of the U.S. Congress to work together to improve the country’s employment.

The labor market is stalled in the world’s largest economy as it created zero new jobs in August, according to a report released by the Labor Department three days before this Labor Day.

“We do need everyone to be on board” with President Barack Obama as he tries to create a better hiring environment across the country, Solis told U.S. NBC TV’s “Today” show.

Obama is scheduled to deliver a speech on jobs in front of both chambers of the Congress on Thursday. He is expected to push programs such as investment in infrastructure, special assistance to dislocated workers and a continuation of payroll tax relief for middle-class workers.

Solis said that U.S. lawmakers, who returned to Washington this week after a month-long recess, must be in accord on at least one thing — to put jobs policy at the top of the agenda.

Analysts say that the president will face headwinds from the opposite party since the Republicans criticize that the Democratic government’s actions to boost economy has failed.

U.S. unemployment rate, currently at 9.1 percent, is expected to hover at 9 percent into 2012.
