Things to Do in Job Hunting While Employed

What are the things to do and not do while still employ and looking for another opportunity? You are tired in your job and want another opportunity. You feel that the job is not interesting anymore. There is a feeling of in need in improvement in your career. In other words, you want another job and better opportunities but do not want to be idle and loosen your job.

When the time comes that you finally decided to quit with your work, the next thing to do is to apply for another job. Particularly when we have dependents that needs our financial support. Many of us try to pass applications to other employer while employed. The question with this is would applying while employed to other companies is not good thing to do, is it against with the company rules?

Things that should avoid in job hunting while employed:

  1. Do not use company resources in pursuing your applications with other companies. Things not to do are; do not use company computer in passing your resume and do not use company landline or any phone to follow up your application
  2. During your interview, do not state any bad things that may destruct the image of your present company
  3. When hired by other company, follow the company rules in the set time frame of looking for the replacement
  4. Make sure that you turnover everything with the one who will replace you and clearly explained with him / her all of the job descriptions, deadlines of reports, etc.
  5. Say your goodbye properly. Do not do anything that may destruct your professional and personal relationship with your employer and co-workers.
