Suffering Can Stimulate Growth

The last fourteen posts on this blog have dealt with the idea of helping your company survive during times that are economically tough for everyone involved. However, if you have implemented the tips, have backup plans for when times get desperate and have a steely resolve to get your company through this mess, you are already in a better position than the average company of the same size and characteristics.
With that in mind, you should also understand that personal growth can be achieved through suffering. You can grow as a person, as a business executive and as the head of a company through steering your company safely through economic hard times.
However, an even better executive will have a plan up their sleeve for what to do at the other end of the storm. Once you’ve done everything you can do in order to help your company during the downturn, it is time to set your sights on the future rather than needlessly worry about a present that you can do nothing more to affect. Come up with plausible situations that your company could be in at the end of a downturn and then chart a course back to complete recovery. It will cheer you up and keep your mind working critically so that you can better deal with any other problems that might arise along the way.
