Job Hunting in December

Job Hunting

We all find ourselves looking for new jobs so that we can be able to excel the more when it comes to considering career growth. There are a lot of opportunities out there but the matter of timing is equally important as well. For one thing, it is best to change jobs somewhere in the second to the third quarter of the year. Based on our beliefs, never should it be done on the last quarter. At least that we all believed in.

(Source) Yet job hunters often blow off the holidays because they view it as a dead hiring period. Nothing is further from the truth.

When calling job applicants in December, I’ve often heard: “I can’t believe you called me this time of year.” This doesn’t make sense, since recruiters work a full month, except for the few days they take off around Christmas and New Year’s.

In some cases, candidates resist coming for interviews in December. I’ve heard all kinds of excuses. Some are legitimate: “I’m flying out of town that day.” Many were silly: “We’re going to a party that night and, with the traffic, I don’t think I had better drive in for an interview in the afternoon.”

Apparently, there is logic in this article. However, it still remains if they are indeed feasible and will work to our advantage. On how this will turn out is anyone’s guess. But make sure you hold on to that resignation letter and avoid acting on impulse. You may end up without a job and the evident loser in the end. So be careful in making hasty when it comes to your career.

A Lean Season for Job Hunting

Job Hunting During Christmas

Everyone needs a job and job hunting in the latter part of the year may seem to be the least likely time you can get a new job in the market. The last quarter of the fiscal year is usually the season where everyone is expecting to get fat bonuses and getting ready to celebrate the Christmas season. For most corporate offices, chances are they are likely to be closing their accounting books and inventories, and of course holding off all new applicants who are seeking employment.

Hence the last three months of they year is always known to be the lean season of job hunting and most likely, you would be better off preparing to look for a new job by February of the succeeding year. Everyone is in a vacation mood hence the reason why you may find it difficult to get that interview and potential consideration for the job.

Job Hunting Cycle Reference

There are many reasons why a person may eventually turn to looking for another job while he is currently employed. Among the top reasons include:

  1. Compensation
  2. Job Scope
  3. Multitasking
  4. Career Path and Development
  5. Office Relations

Of course, there could be other reasons that could be added. But ever so often, when asked why a person would want to leave his current job, these would be the foremost common answer to be heard.

Now we all know there are two sides of a story. Sometimes, issues such as insubordination may crop up or a simple greediness when it comes to overall compensation to satisfy the entire way of living a person has would be the real reasons behind.

Regardless, job hunting may be risky and beneficial. One thing that is for sure, if you are going job hunting, be sure to have a reason. If you are happy with your job, then stay put and your calling may be coming soon. There is no reason to look for other jobs if you feel you are fit and content with where you are at the moment.

Job Hunting

While most people looking for jobs are often confident that their credentials are more than enough to impress recruiters and organizations. But business owners today have become particular about attire and overall appearance. Overall representation is certainly something that helps uplift organizations and people should start becoming more conscious if they want to land jobs from selected organizations today.

Many would cry foul for this kind of approach but any corporate entity is looking out for how they can be able to project a lasting image. This includes staff representation that includes overall looks and physical representation. It does sound unfair but is really nothing personal when it comes to business.
