Editorial Summer Job:
We are looking for a fulltime editorial assistant in the Marketing Department at Etsy.com, an online marketplace for buying and selling handmade goods and art. The Editorial assistant will be responsible for reviewing pitches to our new online multimedia newspaper, The Storque (soon-to-be-launched), and steering us to the best possibilities. Other tasks could include scouting Etsy sellers to be included in pieces, shooting/editing video content, photoshopping image submissions, audio editing, and/or text editing for the web. Creative and hard working interns will get the opportunity to create original content and features for the newspaper. You should love to read, write and tell stories. You should be a thorough and a good communicator with people face to face, on the phone, and online. Above all, we are looking for interns who have a curiosity about the world of handmade things and like to get things done!
Skills & experience:
- blogging experience or other journalism experience
- knowledge of Photoshop and image editing
- basic video shooting and editing (FinalCut). Preferably you have done some documentary interviewing and posted on YouTube
- familiarity with social networking sites
You must be based in NYC for the summer. Ideally, you are already in NYC because we want to interview you face to face!
Start in May and continue through August. We’re based at the Etsy Labs in Downtown Brooklyn, Ft Greene neighborhood. Please check out Etsy.com and EtsyLabs.com to get a sense of what we do. The blog.etsy.com will be subsumed by The Storque.
