The Jewish Theological Seminary is looking for an Editor:

Summary
The editor is responsible for strong editorial support of marketing, branding, and email-marketing initiatives for the institution. This position will report to the senior director of Communications.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities

  • Edit, copyedit, and proofread all communication materials for the institution, including brochures, newsletters, advertisements, email-marketing pieces, web materials, and event invitations and programs
  • Review materials to ensure branding, voice, and overall presentation are consistent with the institution’s style
  • Maintain and update the institutional style and branding manuals
    Write materials as needed
  • Required Skills
    The successful candidate will be articulate, diplomatic, detail-oriented, and intelligent, and have experience with print publications. Sharp editing and proofreading skills; extensive knowledge of Chicago Manual of style; computer proficiency (Microsoft Word); and the ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work are critical. We are looking for a self-starter with a commitment to teamwork who can efficiently handle multiple projects simultaneously.

    Preferred Skills

  • BA degree in journalism or English, with a minimum of five years editorial experience
  • Writing experience
  • Progressive track record editing for an educational institution or similar organization
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Publisher and Adobe Creative Suite
