Freelance Worker: Advantages and Disadvantages

We do have our own dreams and goals in our career. Some wants to have their own business, others do want to excel on their own career, there are also few who are satisfied with what they have and some go for a freelancer career. Which do you think is better? If you are going to asked me, the answer is we do have difference preference and vision in life as long as you are contented with what you have, then it is good.

Today, we are going to discuss the freelancer career, how it will be, as well as its advantages and disadvantages. When you say freelancer, the first thing that comes to our mind is the person who is servicing one or more companies. In a more professional definition, Freelancer is someone who is not committed to only one employer and in per contract basis, meaning they work in a certain period depending on the agreement. They also had known as self-employed.

Like other career or profession, being a freelance worker has advantages and disadvantages, some of them are the following:

Advantages:

  1. The main advantage is you have no specific superior to instruct you from time to           time,
  2. You work on your own approach and time.
  3. Bigger income compared with regular employees
  4. You can spend more time with your family, as some of your task can do at home.
  5. A chance to have more connections or network, for you will be dealing with different professionals

Disadvantages

  1. The possibility of having difficulties of your income in some period
  2. You need to prove your skills and capabilities first before gaining clients as the competitions is tough.
  3. You work alone, so there is a possibility of getting bored at the middle of your projects.

    My list so far:

    PROS:
    1. I work from home. I save a fortune with less gas payments, take-away food, clothing etc.
    2. no more idiots as coleagues or boss
    3. I make my schedule, based on my deadlines
    4. I earn MORE.
    5. started being more organized in everything, even with money. I am saving money now.

    Cons:
    1. hard work. At least in the beginning you’ll work your mind off. 12 hours of work a day is the norm. WORK, not play

    can’t see other cons. I like my freedom. I like getting out WHEN I want and not because i have to. With hard work and good organization you can do wonders.
